Sure we had a feckin' whale of a time. Managed to hit loads of great NYC spots in one day: High Line Park to start, with a pop into Chelsea market after. Then a walk through West Village and SoHo down to the 9/11 memorial at Ground zero.
I had warned Sorcha about suspiciously empty subway carriages, and sure enough... Anyway we got to Easy Village, for grub at Mamoun's (Middle Eastern), and then (as pictured) the glory of Big Gay Ice Cream Bar . Pretty sure we were full at this point.
Another subway to Midtown, to check out Bryant Park - sadly a complete disaster, since it was a freezing day, and the whole park was covered in sand. Decided to camp out in Culture Coffee for a bit - they were out of their unbelievable cookies, but probably for the best.
Had some plans ready for the evening, but we decided to take the risk: the lottery tickets for The Book of Mormon: essentially if you win, you get to buy pretty damn good seats for like $30 (cheapest in the house are about $170). 11 winners and hundreds of entrants... But we won the last pair!! Or I should say, Sorcha won the last pair. So fucking good.
Powerwalked across to 30 Rock to head up for the views - 20 minutes total to get from bottom to top, not bad. Always great to see NYC from high up, even if we were just a fraction early for the lights to be turned on on most buildings - also Central Park is a bit shit looking in early Spring (or maybe it was because of the harsh winter).
Quick grub, and then the absolute glory of The Book of Mormon - seriously, go see it if you can.
